Coalition for Good Nutrition Presents
"Making & Tasting the Most of Your Stone Fruit Commodities"

The Coalition for Good Nutrition, comprised of the Apricot Producers of California (APC) and the California Cling Peach Board (CCPB), attended the California School Foodservice Association's (CSFSA) annual conference last month in Sacramento, California.  There to promote both California apricots
and cling peaches in schools, the Coalition presented a breakout session titled "Making & Tasting the Most of Your Stone Fruit Commodities."

Created to educate school foodservice professionals on the nutritional benefits, history and versatility of California apricots and cling peaches, the session offered information on the APC's Apricot Ambassador program as well as the CCPB's School Nutrition Advisory Panel.  In addition, information on California agriculture and the California apricot and cling peach industries was provided.

The Coalition sampled the APC's California Apricot-Oatmeal Breakfast Cake and the CCPB's Rise and Shine California Cling Peach Scones while discussing menu ideas using California apricots and cling peaches.  An extremely interactive session, the Coalition fielded many questions from the audience. Each attendee received a goody bag with California apricot and cling peach promotional materials, and a California apricot and cling peach gift basket was raffled off as well.

More than 50 school foodservice directors, nutrition specialists and foodservice employees attended the educational program, making it a standing-room-only event.  To present a similar session at your school or upcoming event, or to learn more about the Coalition for Good Nutrition, please contact Diane Wegner Deshler at 510.654.5400 or dianewd@echopr.com.
